Donghai County lies in border region between extensions of Yimeng Mountains and Huaibei Plain. It lies on the west of Maling Mountains, the terrain of the west is high and the terrain of the east is low, the west and north is highland, middle part is plain slope, the east part is Shunan low-lying land, most part of the west and north part is Gangling sandy soil while the east part is mainly soil and sediment, also contains certain amount of salt, alkali components. As to the main mountains, Yu Mountain lies in the northwest, Mo Mountain in the north, Niu Mountain, Anfeng Mountain and Fang Mountain in the south, and of them, Yu Mountain is the highest, with the altitude of 269.5 meter. As to the rivers, Longliang River lies in the northwest, Xinshu River, Wulong River in the northeast, Shi’an River and Lulan River in the middle part, New river of Huai River and Qiangwei River in the north. Except that Shi’an River and Longliang River flow from the south to north, the others mainly flow from the west to the east, and Qiangwei River flows in to the sea.
